About me

Beth Hannon Fuller is an illustrator and art teacher working in the tiniest little town right outside of Washington DC in Virginia, can you say 3 square miles?

She is the mother of two rambunctious little boys (Jamie and Colin) and now has a daughter (Anna) as well born in December 07′.

“Right now, my writing just helps me sort things out. I found this blog as a quick way to get some art up on the internet. I’m working with a friend to create an online portfolio/website coming soon! Ever since I started posting, my creativity has gone haywire in a fabulous way. I find myself creating, drawing, pasting and scribbling everyday…..it’s grand.”

I’ve been illustrating and drawing for years. In 1999, I started working with my dear friend Jennifer Niesslein on Brain,Child, The Magazine For Thinking Mothers. For the last decade (almost 10 years!) I have drawn up cartoons and art for our award winning magazine.

But I was feeling stuck in a rut with my artwork, personally…. and in October 07′ when I was so incredibly frustrated, I decided to get myself out of my slump by creating art in a 4×6 format and messing things up a little. I’ve always thought my art translated better in mixed media but couldn’t get it the way I wanted it and having 3 young children under the age of 4, not having much time….I figured I could get “something done” if it were postcard size and if I completely threw caution to the wind and just had fun. I’ve called them postcard prayers (my kind of praying). And ever since then I can honestly say things have looked up. And now it’s just something else I can be obsessed with (ha ha ha). I think in the new year I may move to 5×5’s squares, oh boy, oh my! Or at least some different shapes….we’ll see.

  4. Beff! I love it! I love it! I am spending my last 9 (hopefully) days of pregnancy on the sofa with what feels like one of those awful hangovers I used to get back when we could stay up til 2! My enjoyment today comes from this little girl inside me dancing in my belly and from reading your blurbs and as always admiring your artwork! Well done from across the pond! xoxo

  5. Love it Beth. There are no better bloggers than busy moms. So, where is Bob’s blog again?
